Drink Man Woman

       “Eat Drink Man Woman, Eat Drink life” As the film has pointed out, life sometimes like eat drink ,you want to know but you can't ,you want to get but you can’t, the taste of life vary in people.

It is a family story, we feel warm family atmosphere through the film. The actor “father” is a chef, living with three distinct characters daughters. The eldest daughter “zhen” is a Christian, she has an eagerly longing for love and find her finally happiness with a sports teacher. The second daughter “qian”, the sensitive one, Inherited his father's cooking talent and decides to become a chef like her father, but not as she wish, she had to gave up her dream in her father's opposition. The youngest daughter “ning”, who’s still studying at college, has fall in love with her girl friend's boyfriend and has sex for the first time.

 I have to admire director “LIAN” very much after I finished the film. I think he is an ingenious screenwriter and director. He arranged every small role and little detail carefully to make the film rich. For example, in the start of the film, when the Father concentrating his attention on cooking, he received a phone call and told that how to do the steamed fish, but the film did not told us whose is this phone call. In the end of the call the Father said to the other “if we don’t say it today, when will we say it ? ” First I was in a puzzle about this plot, but as I know the ending of the film I understand this is the director's foreshadowing. The phone call is come from “rong” .What a cleverly plot.

   A lot of people say they don’t like the ending of the film, but I think the most bright spot of the film is here. The unexpected ending make a big Surprise when the Father says he will marry “rong”. The Father’s decision may be a bit against ethics, but then, his bravery is admirable, when come to love, I believe ,age is an irrelevant factor.

Seemingly there is full of irreconcilable conflict among the family. Girls can’t understand their father’s life style and want to live outside , away from the father .The father can’t share his lonely with his daughter, mostly he choose to deal with his problems on his own. but sometimes the film also let us feel the love, from the father, also from the daughters. what’s pleasurable about it is watching these affectionate footages. Now I read the title “Eat Drink Man Woman” again, I see the “Eat Drink” is stand for family love, the “Man Woman” is represent for sex.
