BOMBAY

The film BOMBAY is an adaptation of the true story. It is about religion, politics，moral and love. The film begins with a man and a Muslim women's romantic love story, but in their village Muslim and Hindu is the prohibition of marriage. The Sheka’s father firmly refuses them to marry, and Barry’s father forced his daughter to marry a Muslim young man. Sheka and Barry，they love each other very much. Finally, they decided elope to Bombay to have they new and free life without family bond.

In Bombay, they have a happy life with a twin son.  After six years the relationship between the two families are also much better, conflicts is subsiding. Everything seems to be better and beautiful future is within easy reach.

However, the great riot between Hindu and Muslim broke out at last; the sheka’s family is confusing by the riot. Bombay plunged into chaos, not only caused regions of tension, but it has also brought the riots and violence. During the riot many people lose home, even died. Sheka and Barry are worried about their family, in particular the twin.

Finally they did not escape the doom, the couple’s house was burned, they lost their children, and even the two parents were killed. Barry is so sad; she doesn't know whether her children are living.

Sheka as a daily newspaper reporter, acted for justice, he wanted people to know that they are a big family. However, an individual's strength is limited, he can’t save the city. The social, political, moral and religion was in chaos. The hospital and refuge was a shambles. As the ending, the family gets together again, but in peoples’ heart violence has been enduring painful memory.

The film is a tragedy, but the love of family gave us hope. Maybe we cannot change the country’s fate, but we all wish to survive, to create our own fate.
